After nearly two months, Lech Poznań once again celebrated a league win. On Monday evening, the team from Greater Poland beat Lechia Gdańsk 1:0 in an away match.
It’s been 57 days since Lech Poznań won a league game. Last time the team from Poznań triumphed in an Ekstraklasa match was against Piast Gliwice (4:1). The clash with Lechia definitely wasn’t an easy one. Lech secured three points with a late penalty executed by Mikael Ishak. The set piece was awarded to Lech following Michał Nalepa’s handball; the defender received a second yellow card and, as a result, was forced to leave the pitch.
Before the team from Poznań took the lead, the match didn’t reveal a dominant side. Both sides had plenty of goal-scoring chances but failed to convert them into goals. Lech’s defensive line delivered a solid performance and for the first time since the Europa League qualifiers against Apollon, which took place on September 23rd, the team from Poznań kept a clean sheet.
